In Conversation: Paul Howarth, author of 'Only Killers and Thieves'

June 21, 2018 - 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

This is date for your diary: we’re very chuffed to announce that local writer (and UEA Graduate) Paul Howarth is coming to the Book Hive to launch his breathtaking debut Only Killers and Thieves!
If you’re a follower of The Book Hive on Instagram, you’ll know that our booksellers have read Paul’s book – and absolutely loved it, describing it as “amazing” and “gripping from the very first page”.
Paul will be chatting to Henry, owner of The Book Hive, about the book, its historical context, its relevance today, and Paul’s experience as a debut novelist getting published by the ever-fantastic Pushkin Press.
And in case you missed it, here’s the blurb for Only Killers and Thieves…
Tommy McBride and his brother Billy return to their isolated family home to discover that their parents have been brutally murdered. Haunted and alone, their desperate search for the killers leads them to the charismatic but deadly Inspector Noone and his Queensland Native Police – an infamous arm of colonial power whose sole purpose is the ‘dispersal’ of Indigenous Australians in protection of settler rights.
The retribution that follows will leave a lasting mark on the colony and the country it later becomes. It will also devastate Tommy – and destroy his relationship with his brother, forever.
This event will be FREE. Doors at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.
Why not join the event on Facebook and let us know you’re coming?
