Andrew Cowan: Your Fault (launch)
May 9 - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Set in a 1960s English new town, Cowan’s latest novel charts one boy’s childhood from first memory to first love. A year older in each chapter, Peter’s story is told to him by his future self as he attempts to recreate the optimism and futurism of the 1960s, and to reveal how that utopianism fares as it emerges into the Seventies. Your Fault is an untold story of British working class experience, written with extraordinary precision and tenderness.
Cowan is Director of the Creative Writing programme at the University of East Anglia. This new book – published by the ever-excellent East-Anglian indie publisher Salt – is his first title since 2013. It has been described as “beautifully crafted, unsettling, electrifying” (Emma Healey), “sharp, technically daring, emotionally rewarding” (D.W. Wilson) and ultimately “exceptional” (Naomi Wood).
Andrew will be in discussion with Henry layte, owner of the Book Hive. It’s bound to be an exciting evening – don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate a power-house of local talent!
6:30pm start (doors approx. 6:15pm).
