Nick Acheson: ‘This Wild Dream – Celebrating 100 years of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’
£22.00
Description
Born and raised in Norfolk, conservationist, writer and broadcaster Nick Acheson travelled the world for many years before returning to his native county, where his love of the natural world was born. On doing so, he started a monthly column for Norfolk Magazine on behalf of NWT, in which he described in passionate detail the glorious biodiversity on his readers’ doorsteps. For over ten years, these columns have been an account of our changing countryside, a call to action to protect it and a diary of the tireless work involved in keeping the original aim of the Trust alive.
This book is an edited selection of those articles. Each season is introduced by an acclaimed Norfolk writer – Raffaellla Barker, Ashley Hickson-Lovence, Jessica Streeting and Jeremy Page – and also features an introduction by NWT’s president Patrick Barkham as well as a foreword by Lady Dannatt.
This Wild Dream is a beautifully produced, celebratory hardback edition for those who treasure Norfolk’s glorious wildlife, mourn the devastation it has suffered, and value the remarkable work of NWT. It is also a reminder that by working together, we can preserve for the future what has so nearly been lost in the past.
