In the autumn of 2019, Sir Norman Lamb announced his retirement from politics in an email to his constituents and mailing list. He also used the opportunity to announce a new trust he had founded – The Norman Lamb Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.
During his career, Sir Norman has been a tireless campaigner for improvements in mental health care and the plight of those affected by mental health issues in the face of massively overstretched NHS resources around the country. His new trust, administered by the excellent Norfolk Community Foundation, will raise vital funds which will go directly to local, grassroots organisations in Norfolk that provide for those who are unable, for whatever reason, to receive help elsewhere. Fantastic projects set up by people living in communities – who can see where a need is required and try to address it – are often unsung and underfunded. Sir Norman’s trust aims to help support these very real lifelines for people in need.
The Book Hive is proud to announce that we have started an ongoing relationship with Sir Norman’s charity to raise awareness of the work he is doing, and help raise much needed funds. The devastating effects of poor mental health on individuals, families and communities are felt by us all.
This is urgent and important work, and I encourage you to read more about the trust here, and above all – to donate.
